Almost ready for Africa

So the last 2 weeks have felt like a whirl-wind trying to get everything ready to go. My trips to New Hampshire for training and Oregon for visiting added in there really made it pretty hectic. However, when I got to the airport today, my flight out of Knoxville was delayed so that I would have 10 minutes before my direct flight from Capetown left. (no way me or my luggage would make it). They could not reroute me today, so I don't leave until tomorrow and instead of having a direct flight from Atlanta to Capetown, I no fly to Johannesburg and then to cape town. It won't be that bad so I land Sunday at 9:15 p.m. Cape Town time.

It is funny how things never turn out the way that you think that they do!!

My poor Email

So on monday my email got hacked into, and the wonderful person sent an email to all of my contacts and stated that my wallet was stolen in Europe and asking for money. Not only did the send the email, they also changed my password. I have been working with microsoft on it for sometime now and I got it figured out today for about 4 hours before it locked me out again. Hopefully, tomorrow I will get it straightened out.

Anyway, tomorrow is my last day of work and we are holding the raffle drawing. Hopefully, it will work out and the same person will not win everytime. I head home to Oregon for the weekend and then am off to Africa next Friday, the 31st.

Back from Training

So I just came back from training in Hanover, New Hampshire. I actually slept my entire way back. I had a great weekend full of hearing about Africa and some pretty intense games of 9 square. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and it is going to be a pretty amazing time.

I still don't know which country I will be placed in and as far as my #1 choice, it changes almost daily. But I won't know until I get to Cape Town which country I will be in the whole time.

I am really excited and will keep you posted. I still need about 4,000 but I think it is all going to come together rather quickly.

Hey Everyone,

Things are coming along. The pancake breakfast was a pretty big success, thanks the Aubrey's Restaurant for letting me have the event there. I raised about 1,300 from it and with a few other private donations I was able to send in about 2,100 this week. I am still short about 4,000 but I know through selling raffle tickets and other donations, I am hoping that it will all come in.

I have not raised 6,000 yet, however, I have paid about 2,500 myself as I am still working full time. My friends Whitney and Jeremiah Smith who have let me move in with them have SAVED me a ton that has allowed me to pay for my medical insurance and flight over to Africa.

I would also like to thank Candy Crawford, who not only took the picture that I have used for my fundraising, but also for helping me with everything. I would also like to thank the South Clinton Baptist Church, as they not only held a fundraiser for me, but many of the members helped serve at the pancake breakfast.

Well I hope that all is well. I head up to Dartmouth college this weekend to find out a lot more information about what I will be doing.

So a major part of the fundraising has started. My church had a dinner for me and we raised over $1,100, so thank you to the South Clinton Baptist Church.

I am still having a pancake breakfast at the Aubrey's off of papermill this saturday from 8am - 10am. It is 5$ per person.
